Two days for participants with no experience.

Most trainees take one to two days to complete the course but there is no minimum or maximum course length and the time. It all depends on the trainee’s skillset.

There are two assessment tasks to achieve your excavator licence:

Knowledge assessment – Written/oral exam containing both short answer and multiple choice questions. Each test varies in length and contains critical questions which must be answered correctly.

Performance assessment – A driving assessment which will include a pre-operation check, post-operation checks and general machine operations.

What if you don’t pass the assessments?

If you are not successful with completing the course, you are provided support and further training before you undergo another reassessment. If you need a second assessment, you only complete the tasks that you did not successfully complete in the first attempt.

Interim license

On successful completion of the excavator training course, you will receive an interim paper license called a Notice of Satisfactory Excavator Course Completion. This interim license allows you to operate an excavator. The interim licence is valid for 60 days after the assessment date.

Statement of Attainment

You will then receive an official Statement of Attainment and a photo licence in the post. Your qualification will also be registered on the national database.

You need to complete a form to book in your staff and send us a purchase order.

On payment of your deposit, you will get you course material via a link that we email to you.

Important: You must register 3 days before your preferred training date to ensure your course placement is approved by our registered training organisation (RTO).

After payment is made, you’ll then be taken to an ‘order confirmation’ page.
