Applying for a High Risk Work Licence
— Forklift Training and Assessments
Applying for forklift training means you are applying to be assessed for a high-risk work (HRW) licence.
Before you apply, there are important online steps to take through MyServiceNSW and SafeWorkNSW.
After reading the important information on this page, link to the online process from the button below. There’s also a link to a step-by-step PDF if you need additional instructions.
From 7 May 2025, all HRW licence applicants in NSW need the following:
An account with MyServiceNSW — no problem if you haven’t got one, you will be able to create your account during the HRW Licence application process.
Assessment enrolment number. Your assessment enrolment number is used for:
Applying for a new HRW licence (e.g. to apply for our forklift course)
Renewing your expired HRW licence
Receiving assessment results after your assessment completion. You do this through SafeWorkNSW.
Getting your HRW Licence after successful completion of your course.
To apply for and pay for your HRW Licence, you need to go to a ServiceNSW Centre where your photograph will be taken for your licence — the same process as getting any vehicle licence in NSW.
How to get your assessment enrolment number
You will need:
proof of identity, the same photo identification you will present at the start of your training and assessment
your MyServiceNSW account:
If you DON’T have a MyServiceNSW account, no problem, you will be directed to set up your MyServiceNSW account during the process.
If you DO have a MyServiceNSW account, log in and navigate to apply for your HRW licence and get your assessment enrolment number.
