Why complete this Telehandler Course?

SafeWork NSW states that anyone operating a telehandler that has a capacity less than three tonne must be trained and competent in operating the telehandler and attachments. This course will give you the training and competency to operate a telehandler with specific attachments.

Entry requirements

Age: Minimum 18 years of age

Vehicle licence prerequisite: You need a Class C car licence to drive a telescopic handler. Find out about different licence classes.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements:

Trainees must have adequate English language skills to safely complete tasks relating to working with telehandlers, such as being able to:

  • Read and correctly interpret safe work method statements, telehandler specifications and load charts

  • Complete required documentation relevant to telehandler operation, including completing risk assessments and telehandler logbook entries

  • Ensure that the safe working load of the telehandler isn’t exceeded

  • Speak English clearly in order to explain, describe and verify sometimes complex needs and issues.
